Türkbükü guide 2026: bays, life and prices

Türkbükü is a bay on the north coast of the Bodrum peninsula, known for its wooden piers reaching out into the sea and its beach clubs. Together with Gölköy right next door, it also goes by the name Göltürkbükü. In summer it is one of the busiest corners of the peninsula. This guide covers where Türkbükü is, how a day in the bay goes, the neighbouring bays of Gölköy and Küçükbük, and what a home costs today. The prices come from the listings in our portfolio as of November 2026.

Where Türkbükü is and how to get there

Türkbükü is about 20 km from Bodrum town. Milas-Bodrum Airport is roughly 40 km away. Dolmuş minibuses from Bodrum bus station reach the bay in about 25 minutes when there is no traffic.

Gölköy and Türkbükü are in fact two separate villages. In 1996 they merged into a single municipality under the name Göltürkbükü, and today both are neighbourhoods of Bodrum. To the west, Küçükbük and Gündoğan, and a little further on Yalıkavak, are a short drive away.

Life in Türkbükü

Piers and beach clubs

Türkbükü's beach is narrow, and the shore is coarse sand and shingle. The bay makes up for it with wooden piers that reach out into the sea. By day the restaurants and beach clubs along the shore set out sun loungers on these piers, and you get into the sea from the pier rather than from the sand. In the evening the same places turn into restaurants and bars.

The best-known address in the bay is Maçakızı. With its hotel, restaurant and beach, it is the first place that comes to mind when people say Türkbükü. The area is expensive overall. Most private beaches charge an entrance fee or set a minimum spend.

The sea

The water in the bay is clean and clear, and the seabed turns rocky a little way out from the shore. Türkbükü is also known for its wind; in summer the breeze takes the edge off the heat. In the summer months the yachts and boats anchored in the bay are part of the view too.

Summer and winter

Türkbükü is at its liveliest in the summer months. In winter the bay becomes noticeably quieter. If you plan to use the house all year, factor that in from the start. If you are looking for a town centre and a marina that stay open in winter, see our Yalıkavak guide.

The neighbouring bays

Gölköy and Demirbükü

Gölköy, east of Türkbükü, is quieter and greener than its neighbour. The east and south of Gölköy are covered in pine forest. Most of the complexes on these slopes come down to the sea with their own beach and pier. The Nef Reserve Gölköy project, in Demirbükü Bay in Gölköy, has its own sandy beach and three piers.

Küçükbük

Küçükbük is a small bay between Gündoğan and Türkbükü, surrounded by olive trees and hills. It is very close to the restaurants of Türkbükü, but life here moves more quietly. Complexes with their own beach offer waterfront apartments and duplexes.

What sets the price most is distance to the sea, the view, and what the complex offers. A complex with its own beach and pier and a villa a few minutes' drive from the bay can be far apart in price. There are few apartments in the area; the large majority of listings are villas. To compare, see all villas for sale in Bodrum or every home on the peninsula.

Investment and citizenship

Every home we have for sale in the area is above the $400,000 threshold for Turkish citizenship by investment. For a citizenship application the property must not be sold for at least three years. The details are on our Turkish citizenship page.

On purchase, a title deed fee of 4% of the sale price is paid, split by law equally between buyer and seller. You can work out your own figure with our title deed fee calculator. You can also see in advance the tax you will pay each year after buying with our property tax calculator.
